WeHoChurch Sundays
It's hard to believe WeHoChurch has been around for more than eleven years. During these years we've explored many styles of worship and leadership. As a result we've used everything from videos to celebrities to Top 10 Lists to present our message. Music too has included solos, choirs and a jazz band with back-up singers.
But the biggest change came in May of 2010 on our 10th anniversary. At that time I decided that as pastor I had said enough (for awhile ) and that it was time we heard from each other. After all, I'm not the only one with insights into God. So we rearranged our hour-long service, not to mention our furniture, so that spiritual conversations could take place… And they have.
Staying true to Biblical truths and the examples of Jesus are important to us. To this end, I still study and prepare for Sunday. But instead of giving a sermon, I prepare questions. After a brief introduction to the topic, these questions allow everyone to share their experiences and lessons. And the music has changed too. These days our worship is more low-key and intimate.
Naturally these changes have impacted our congregation. Some who love the formality of a traditional Sunday service have found the experience elsewhere. Others, looking to share guided spiritual conversations, have joined our family. Many visitors and regular attendees participate by listening only. After all, half of conversation is listening.
This is an exciting time for us. We've grown closer and understand more about God having learned from each other. Some might say our church has been born again... well, maybe just re-invented. I hope you'll join us on Sunday for a guided spiritual conversation. We look forward to meeting you.
